Delightful Division 5: Quick Quartering!

When you divide multiples of 100 by 4, there's a special shortcut that you can use!

(100x)/4 = 25x

As you may have guessed, it has something to do with the number 25!

Every professional mathematician knows that a number that reads "00" in the ones' & tens' columns is a multiple of 100!

Examples:

700/4 = 25 × 7 = 175

800/4 = 25 × 8 = 200

900/4 = 25 × 9 = 225

1,000/4 = 25 × 10 = 250

1,200/4 = 25 × 12 = 300

1,500/4 = 25 × 15 = 375

1,600/4 = 25 × 16 = 400

2,000/4 = 25 × 20 = 500

4,000/4 = 25 × 40 = 1,000

If the dividend is a multiple of 100 & the divisor is 4, then you can simply divide the dividend by 100 & then multiply by 25 to get the correct quotient! It's simple as that!
