You always get a square when you shade the area from zero(0) to N since the constant function is equal to N! What happens if N is equal to a negative number? Well...
Squaring a negative number gives you a positive number since negative × negative = positive! Also, notice some of the integral rules shown in the 2nd example. Finally, 1 more thing: N can be any real number you want it to be. (Imaginary numbers aren't allowed.)
